At Whidbey Dental Associates, we feature Invisalign to assist adults who are interested in improving the alignment of their smiles. This treatment is easy to use and known for producing reliable results. Dr. Wirth and his team of dentists have helped countless Oak Harbor patients regain confidence in their smiles with this clear braces option.
Invisalign — A New Approach to Beautiful Smiles
Invisalign aligners are a product of over 20 years of technological research and innovation. The results have led to more precise and predictable treatments, giving you the smile of your dreams fifty percent faster than the alternatives. As technology improves, the entire Invisalign experience becomes more natural.
For example, your custom Invisalign aligners are made from patented SmartTrack® material. This transparent, flexible device sits discreetly and comfortably on your smile and gradually shifts a couple of teeth at a time.
Another exciting innovation stems from the Invisalign system, and it allows us to show you a digital representation of what your final results will look like before beginning treatment.
The Invisalign Process
Invisalign is the fastest, most effective way to straighten your smile without using metal brackets or wires. Also, the process requires fewer visits to our office than the average patient would experience with metal braces.
#1) Your Consultation
When you arrive for your visit, Dr. Wirth will examine your smile, review your medical and dental history, and discuss your treatment options. If you decide that Invisalign is the ideal solution, we can begin right away.
#2) Treatment Planning & Creation
Once you and Dr. Wirth have chosen Invisalign, he’ll take impressions of your smile using an iTero scanner. After that, the Invisalign system translates the scans into a digital image of what your smile will look like following your treatment.
#3) Straightening Your Smile
After about a week, you’ll pick up your first set of aligners from our Oak Harbor office. These aligners will be custom-fitted to your smile so that they’ll rest comfortably throughout treatment. For the best results, we recommend wearing your Invisalign aligners for 20-22 hours a day.
Every two weeks or so, we’ll send you a new box of aligners which are created for a specific purpose. The success of the Invisalign process relies on gradual, precise changes.

Invisalign FAQs
How long does Invisalign® take to straighten teeth?
We can straighten your smile twice as fast with Invisalign than we could with traditional metal braces. This equates to about six to nine months off of your treatment timeline. However, your individual treatment time may vary depending on your unique needs.
Aligners take less time than braces because the metal brackets and wires can only put pressure on certain areas of your teeth. Aligners, on the other hand, put pressure on all surfaces of your teeth which allows them to move your teeth more efficiently.
Is Invisalign covered by insurance?
Yes, Invisalign is typically covered by insurance. However, to confirm the details of your insurance coverage, we recommend contacting your provider directly.
If you’re concerned about the costs of your Invisalign treatment, we can help. We offer convenient financing options so you don’t have to worry about paying for your entire treatment cost upfront.
How do you clean and maintain your Invisalign trays?
Cleaning your Invisalign trays is an easy process. First, remove them, then gently brush the outside and inside with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Invisalign-specific cleansers are available, and they can help remove stains and bacteria from your aligners. Never use hot water because this can easily warp them.
Additionally, make sure to remove your aligners when you eat or drink anything besides water because they can become damaged or stained. Before you put your aligners back in, you’ll also want to brush your teeth to prevent any leftover food from getting stuck in your teeth or on your aligners.
Can I remove my braces and get Invisalign?
It’s possible for some patients to switch from metal braces to Invisalign mid-treatment, however, this will be determined after one of our dentists evaluate your mouth and current treatment.
The only way to find out is to schedule a consultation for Invisalign and have our team examine your teeth. After taking 3D scans and assessing your case, you’ll find out if we can switch you to Invisalign.
Is Invisalign removable?
Yes, Invisalign aligners are completely removable, making them a patient-preferred orthodontic treatment. You can easily take them out for special occasions, eating, and brushing so you don’t have to worry about braces being in the way.
However, you still need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day to ensure success. If you don’t wear your aligners enough daily, your treatment will likely last longer.
