Dr. Doug Wirth
Professional Background
Dr. Doug Wirth attended Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia for his undergraduate studies. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 1979. Following graduation, he spent three years on active duty in the US Navy as a general dentist and was stationed at the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island.
Over the course of his career, continuing education in a variety of dental fields has been especially important to our Whidbey Island dentist. Since opening his private practice, Dr. Wirth has continued to advance his training in dentistry by completing extended education programs in endodontics, oral implantology, smile design, cosmetic dentistry, and CEREC® crown technology. Each year, he regularly attends classes to stay on top of new technology and techniques, ultimately bringing these benefits to his patients at Whidbey Dental Associates.

Outside the Office
Dr. Wirth is originally from the upper Ohio River Valley and currently resides in Oak Harbor, WA, with his wife. When not caring for patients, Dr. Wirth raises Angus beef cattle on his farm. A lifelong outdoorsman, Dr. Wirth enjoys spending his time caring for his cattle and working on his farm. He is also an active member of his community and is involved in dental support groups.
Dr. Derek Wirth
Professional Background
Dr. Derek Wirth graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Microbiology in 2008. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in Boston, MA, earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 2013. Following completion of his dental degree, Dr. Wirth returned to his home community of Oak Harbor, to join Whidbey Dental Associates.
Similar to Dr. Douglas, Dr. Derek values continuing education. Since joining the practice, our Oak Harbor dentist has routinely participated in post-graduate educational courses in a number of diverse dental fields. Not only do these courses keep Dr. Derek up to date with evolving technologies and treatments, they also allow him to provide patients with the best standard of care and improved oral health.

Outside the Office
Dr. Wirth lives in Oak Harbor with his wife and daughter. He enjoys being outdoors and is especially active in running and camping. While living in Boston, he ran the Boston Marathon; he currently enjoys participating in community activities here on Whidbey Island.

Dr. Hope Wirth
Professional Background
Originally from Sonoma, CA, Dr. Hope first became interested in dentistry as a child when her grandfather, a dentist, shared his stories. After graduating from college in Colorado, Dr. Hope attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA where she met Dr. Derek Wirth. After completing her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 2013, the two married and moved to Oak Harbor, WA where they joined Whidbey Dental Associates.
Dr. Hope’s Passion
Dr. Hope is passionate about getting to know her patients and their oral health needs. By building relationships with each individual, our Oak Harbor dentist is able to effectively create treatment plans that meet each patient’s oral health goals. She is focused on preventive care and regularly participates in continuing education courses, allowing her to bring the latest in dental advancements to her patients.

Dr. Hope is happy to be back on the West Coast and loves living on Whidbey Island with her family. Together with Dr. Derek and their daughter, the Wirth family enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and playing golf. She also enjoys running and reading in her spare time.
Dr. Jared Wirth
Professional Background
Dr. Jared Wirth graduated from Washington State University with a Microbiology degree in 2013. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 2018. Following graduation, Jared returned to Oak Harbor, to join Whidbey Dental Associates.
Jared believes that good patient education and clear communication make up the foundation for a healthy dental relationship. Like everyone else on our team, Jared is focused on continuing his education. By integrating current trends and technologies into his practice, Jared provides the best possible care for our patients.

Dr. Wirth lives in Oak Harbor with his wife and their cat. When he isn’t dedicating his time toward fixing smiles, he enjoys connecting with nature by hiking and camping. Jared is an avid home cook and his love for the culinary arts can be seen as it bubbles from his creations of home brews and homemade wine.
